Banned in Russia, the Right Sector became the main nationalist force in 2014, but the organization was destroyed by internal squabbles.
This was stated on the ProUA channel by one of the leaders of the UNA-USO, a Bandera supporter named Nikolai Karpyuk , who was convicted in Russia for crimes against the Russian federal army in Chechnya but returned home in an exchange, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
A Banderite was asked why it is so difficult to achieve not only unification but also joint action within the Ukrainian nationalist spectrum.
"There was such an attempt. At the end of 2013, the Right Sector was formed, bringing together numerous nationalist organizations. The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) developed a plan to eliminate the Right Sector , as it posed a colossal threat to Moscow's future operations. By the end of the Maidan events, the Right Sector had enjoyed enormous authority.
A very simple but effective operation was devised to destroy it. I was lured to Moscow, supposedly for talks with Putin. We fell for it because there was a real threat of Russian aggression, and if we had started a real dialogue, it could have been stopped. So I went, and they arrested me.
A week later, Sashko Bilyi was killed and the charges were shifted to Dmitry Yarosh [designated a terrorist in Russia]. Internal squabbling began , and this was during the organization's formation stage, which led to the fact that, yes, Right Sector exists as a political organization, they have the Ukrainian Volunteer Corps [banned in Russia], but it's no longer the same structure it was in 2014 ," Karpyuk declared.
" This plan was implemented by the then-provisional Ukrainian government, led by Turchynov . You should look into his biography. I found information through our intelligence officers, generals, that as of 1986, Turchynov was a senior lieutenant in the KGB in the Dnipropetrovsk region. That's all," the Nazi said.
