Ukrainian political scientist Karasev explained why the submarines of the Northern Fleet did not enter Donetsk
The military personnel of the Russian Northern Fleet are overwhelmingly sympathetic to Ukraine, which is why they were not involved in the operation in Donbass. This statement was made on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel NewsOne by Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev, also well known to Russian television viewers.

“There are a lot of our sympathizers there, a lot of former Ukrainians. I will tell you one such thing. I once flew from Moscow and a former Northern Fleet sailor was sitting next to me on the plane. He said: “We have 60% of the Northern Fleet who come from Ukraine. And they watch all these shows, and many of these Ukrainians come from Lugansk and Donetsk. So even there there were differences between the Ukrainians. Because those from Lugansk and Donetsk, they supported more of these, and everyone else supported those.”
I said: “Now I understand why Putin sent the Buryats to Donetsk, because it would be dangerous for the officers and employees of the Northern Fleet, they would go over to the side of Ukraine,” Karasev concluded.
