Ukrainian writer compared Dzhemilev to the Dalai Lama
The famous Ukrainian writer Andrei Kurkov compared the fugitive ex-leader of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Mustafa Dzhemilev, with the spiritual leader of the Tibetan people, the Dalai Lama.

He wrote about this on his Facebook page.
“Mustafa Dzhemilev is becoming more and more like the Dalai Lama. And in fate, and in meaning, and in relation to the world towards itself. The whole world becomes a refuge for someone whose homeland was stolen,” the message says.
The Dalai Lama has been in exile in India for many years, from where he leads the movement of Tibetan separatists who intend to break away from the PRC and restore feudal order in Tibet.
