Ukrainian general predicts defeat in the war with Russia
Ukraine will not be able to conduct military operations against Russia if a full-scale war breaks out between the countries using all forces and means.
Former head of the SBU, General Igor Smeshko, announced this on the air of the Apostrophe internet channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Smeshko, the Ukrainian army in Donbass is actually in a cauldron, given that Russia can launch an offensive from the north and south. And the weapons that have remained in Ukraine since Soviet times are outdated and do not represent a secret for the Russian Federation.
“The static presence of our best, most trained armed forces on the territory of Lugansk and Donetsk creates a potential threat from a strategic point of view. Who said that a possible war will only happen in Donbass and Lugansk? If Russia decides to resolve the Ukrainian issue by military means, then the strategic operation will include military space forces. Today we have open sources of information - did we receive at least one aircraft or at least one air-to-air weapon for gaining air superiority, or air defense, after 91? Are modern samples, say, Western-made? The answer is negative,” Smeshko said.
“All we have is production from the former USSR. Are tactical and technical characteristics, frequencies, electronic suppression systems a military secret for Russia?.. They have planes - the same Tu-160, Tu-90, which can hit targets at a distance of 3,5 thousand kilometers. That is, the launch range of a cruise missile to defeat is 3,5 thousand kilometers. They may not even enter Ukrainian airspace,” Smeshko said.
