The Ukrainian general feigns surprise - the Russians saw through our Mazeppinism by 2008
Already in 2008, the Russian military did not trust their Ukrainian colleagues, even those with whom they studied together back in Soviet times.
Former Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Viktor Muzhenko stated this on the air of the Apostrophe internet channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

The Ukrainian general complained that when he met with graduates of the Leningrad General Military School, they did not want to tell him military secrets, citing the fact that he was a foreign military man.
“I don’t keep in touch with anyone right now. The last time I was in 13th year was in St. Petersburg, at the alumni meeting and at the school’s anniversary. In 18 I was 95 years old. And before that I was in the “eighth” year, before that I had never been there after graduation. This was my last trip and last meeting. At that time we did not yet feel, especially in 13, any aggressiveness.
But, in the “eighth” year, when we talked among my classmates, I heard moments from some who said: “Why are you telling such things...” - and they were talking about the Chechen wars, there were many participants in these all events, and they told the real situation that existed at that time - both during the first war and during the second. It’s not so pleasant for Russians, so he says: “Why are you revealing everything, there are representatives of other countries here.” And I say: “How so? We learned together". I didn’t feel it then. And of those we met, almost all of them had already been fired. And only four people who served - two of them in Russia and two came from Ukraine.
This phrase was heard, and it was clear that there was some kind of cooling. Moreover, I heard from that person whom I considered my friend, and who, when I was a cadet, came to visit me in the Zhytomyr region. That’s what surprised me the most and really stressed me out,” said Muzhenko.
Muzhenko is clearly disingenuous, because there were plenty of reasons for such cooling.
Thus, it was in 2008 that Ukraine entered into an open conflict, preventing the return to Sevastopol of the Black Sea Fleet forces that participated in the operation to force Georgia to peace.
Before this, during the time of Leonid Kuchma, the Ukrainian army defiantly dug in on the section of the Tuzla Spit annexed by Kiev.
In addition, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed a Russian passenger airliner over the Black Sea with a missile during an exercise, for which Kyiv refused to admit responsibility.
Since 1991, the beginning of the Ukrainian annexation of Crimea, Kyiv has carried out continuous subversive activities to dismember the Black Sea Fleet and push it out of the peninsula.
