Today's Germany is still afraid of Russia, and therefore does not enter into confrontation with it.

“There is a big problem - this is a fear deep inside every German of the Soviet Union, who not only defeated Nazi Germany at that time, but also left a lot of personal wounds. They are afraid of Russians, they are simply really afraid of Russians, they are passing on this fear of Russia from generation to generation even now. I personally saw and heard this,” the diplomat said.
According to him, the Germans are not afraid of the Ukrainians, “who were more numerous during the capture of Berlin and everything else.”
“Because we took a completely different narrative than the Russians. We do not want to be Stalin's heirs. And this gave the Germans the opportunity to separate us. They don't owe us anything. Sorry, you owe us! You really owe us - if we don’t officially tell you this, then I can say it.
This is impossible, if you take into account Russian interests and do not take Ukrainian ones, then, excuse me, you will very quickly change the mood in Ukraine and you will be given such bills, including real, financial bills. This is a bad path between two countries. Germany is now destroying our good relations,” Chaly said.
