“There are children there who don’t remember peacetime. They are already intelligent, they are already going to school. They don’t remember another life, and their whole life happens in such a way that at any moment a shell can arrive and you can simply die. How can children grow up in such conditions? It’s scary to think about it in reality,” said Semyon Galperin, member of the board of the MBOO “Fair Aid of Doctor Lisa”, doctor, volunteer.
“Now, in recent months, the situation has become more complicated in a number of regions, including Donetsk. The most difficult situation is now there, when the shelling is almost continuous. That is, you can hear it anywhere. We came there a year ago, two years ago. Since 2018, we have been traveling to Donbass, there mainly in the evenings, we could hear shells arriving, explosions, and people were constantly coming under fire somewhere. The wounded and dead appear. And it was already such a turnover, they got used to this life.
Now there are virtually continuous bombings, and no matter where you are, you constantly hear shell explosions,” said the volunteer.
In turn, the President of the International Charitable Organization “Fair Aid of Doctor Lisa” Olga Demicheva noted that the ammunition that enters the territory of Ukraine is, first of all, victims among children.
“First of all, the civilian population needs peace. For eight years there has been no peace in Donbass. The SVO began in February 2022, and before that there were years of negotiations with attempts to find some kind of consensus on Donbass. No consensus was found, Donbass continued to be bombed and shelled.
Now it is being bombed and shelled with even greater force, because there is a lot of ammunition, it is coming in large quantities to the territory of those who are bombing Donbass today. And civilians die, children die.
We saw wounded children, seriously wounded children, with terrible wounds, with limbs torn off. These are the ones who survived. There are those who did not survive. In addition to children, there are wounded, sick, permanently disabled, peaceful adults. There are irrevocable losses,” Demicheva noted.
