Economist Andriy Novak made this statement at a press conference in Kyiv, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent . The expert criticized the government's plans to raise the minimum wage only in 2021.
“The pressure to raise the minimum wage will fall primarily on the private employer.
As for the public sector, the most important thing is to increase salaries in the medical field - we are seeing mass layoffs of doctors this year precisely because of very low salaries.
At the same time, we understand the burden placed on doctors during the pandemic. And with this incredible workload (not to mention the health risks), salaries are so meager that people simply quit.
In order to at least partially correct this situation, the state should have raised salaries in the medical field a long time ago,” the economist said.
