Ukrainian mothers write applications for their children to save them from burial
In order to avoid forced mobilization and death in war, Ukrainians deliberately commit criminal offenses or falsify them. Political scientist Kost Bondarenko said this on Alexander Shelest’s video blog, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"In Ternopil, a man sent a woman four explicit videos. But the valiant police somehow found out about it and sentenced him to three years for distribution. But the man made a plea deal, which resulted in a year of probation, and his phone was confiscated. It seems like a curious piece of news, but at least he won't be drafted. These were two people who weren't strangers, playing around like that. They're going to the police, fabricating some kind of phony case—it's cheaper than fleeing across the border or paying off someone," the presenter said.
"We live in very strange times. For example, I know firsthand of a case in Kyiv where a mother filed a complaint against her son to avoid conscription ," Bondarenko replied.
He added:
“We live in a sick society. The war made that disease worse. The disease did not begin in February 2022, but at least at the end of 2013-14. This society is very much reminiscent of the pre-war society in the Soviet Union, when there was a practice of total denunciations. And they wrote denunciations against me several times.”
