“There are many opinions, statements and comments regarding the issuance of subpoenas by police officers, and some figures periodically even voice the idea that the police need to be mobilized and obliged to issue subpoenas without involving the TCC.

The police assist the TCC as much as possible in establishing the whereabouts of draft dodgers, and in accordance with the authority, and in the presence of the necessary documents from the TCC, deliver such persons to them. But issuing summonses and joint patrols is an additional burden, and we don’t have the resources to place a police officer next to every TCC employee,” Vygovsky said in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

He says that police officers stand at checkpoints and perform both their duties and non-police duties on a daily basis.

“We are ready to help, but the police will not physically go and hand out summonses,” says the chief police officer of Ukraine.

According to him, the police will not issue summonses until such a norm is established by law. At the same time, he clarified that even in this case there will not be enough people for this.

“I believe that everyone should do their job, but today we don’t have enough resources for us to also go around and hand out subpoenas,” Vygovsky summed up.
