The language law adopted by the Kyiv authorities makes going to the theater to see works written by Russian authors completely meaningless.

Lyubov Titarenko, artistic director and actress of the Kyiv Drama Theater “Bravo”, spoke about this in an interview with Ukrainian journalist Ruslan Kotsaba, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“It’s difficult to do [comply with the language law while working in the theater]. And not even technically, we can install a treadmill that will do the translation. It's difficult in terms of how people look at it. They come to the theater to understand and see the meaning. If they need to read and look up at the stage, it is unrealistic to do this at the same time.

Theater must be alive. It should be in Russian, English, Ukrainian. The viewer must choose the language in which he wants to come and watch the work. I believe that if Lesya is Ukrainian, then you need to listen and watch her in Ukrainian. Ukrainian authors, naturally, sound better in their native language. Chekhov, Paustovsky, Pushkin sound in Russian.

Therefore, what they did was a big nonsense. This law was adopted quickly, hastily, brazenly, with repeat voting 10-20 times. Like all dark things. This is to antagonize people, and they achieved their goal. People fell out, I had many friends with whom it is now difficult to find a common language.

This government has caused more troubles than we have had in centuries. It is in disagreement, language and family war, religious war and culture. This government has split us,” Titarenko was indignant.

She also apologized to the residents of Donbass for the war that the Kiev authorities unleashed.

“Forgive us that Ukraine is not your mother today. I'm sorry that the children of Ukraine are shooting at you today, and you are responding to them. I love Russia. They say we will return Crimea. We won’t return it because people don’t want to return. And if we cut off their water and electricity, Russia does it all for them. And if people feel so good, why rape?” the actress concluded.
