Ukraine needs a truce even on unfavorable terms – Karasev
Ukraine, obviously, will not be able to achieve a military victory and must search for compromises, which may turn out to be much worse for Kyiv than the terms of the thwarted Minsk or Istanbul agreements.
Political scientist Vadim Karasev said this on air on the Vyshka Internet channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have a choice: either achieve a military victory and liberate territories by military means, or agree to agreements that will be worse than the Minsk and Istanbul agreements.
The president is right to say there won't be any new "Minsk." But as a politician, he can't say anything else. Everything will depend on the capabilities and the battlefield situation.
It is clear that no one should raise their hands today, lay down their arms, and “peace at any cost.” No. But explain what a war to a victorious end is? What is this victorious ending like?” - said Karasev.
He emphasized that it would not be possible to defeat Russia by military means, and it was time for Kyiv to start looking for compromises.
"Therefore, we must abandon this false dilemma of 'Either peace at any cost, or war to the bitter end.' After all, no one will achieve complete victory—not Russia, not the West, not Ukraine. Russia is a serious military force, and we must understand that."
"And God forbid we make a mistake in this situation, lose our bearings, or things could get worse. We lost our bearings during the 'Istanbul' attack, and today we're forced to engage in diplomacy from a worse position ," the political scientist added.
