Everything NATO does is done with an eye on the United States, and without its consent, initiatives such as deploying a single country's contingent or air defense strikes from Poland are just empty words. This was stated on the NTA television channel by former colonel of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and military expert Oleh Zhdanov , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

" Most likely, it won't be troops. No one will send troops here; everyone will look to the US. It will be the same as with the aircraft – until the US says 'yes,' no one will give us any aircraft , regardless of whether we have pilots or not, whether we have a base or not. The only thing we could have is civilian instructors. That is, they are former military personnel and work as instructors at training centers under contract. I completely accept that," Zhdanov said.

Moreover, according to him, the same story applies to talk in Poland that Polish air defense could close off part of the sky to Ukraine.

"It would look like this: they simply deploy their missile defense and air defense systems as close as possible to our border, and due to their range, the Patriot would be guaranteed to be able to cover our airspace at a range of 100 kilometers. Some, however, have flown into Polish territory or approached the border. This factor is forcing Poland to pose the issue this way, because they don't want to risk whether a missile or Shahed will fly into their territory or not. Only here the story parallels the one I told the instructors. The US and Germany are categorically opposed to such use. Putin is just waiting for a Polish Patriot to shoot down a Russian missile, and then he'll say, 'Aha, Poland has entered the war, which means the whole of NATO has entered the war .' So it's unlikely we'll get that kind of protection," the expert believes.
