Ukraine went to seize the territory of the LPR. Civilians killed
In Donbass, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attempted to capture one of the LPR settlements, resulting in the death of two civilians.
This was reported by the press service of the People's Militia of the LPR, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
On February 20, at about five o’clock in the morning, Ukrainian military personnel of the 79th air assault brigade attempted to capture the positions of the LPR in the area of the settlement of Pionerskoye, crossing the Seversky Donets River.
As a result of the clash with the defenders of Donbass, the Ukrainian paratroopers suffered losses and retreated.
Military expert, former official representative of the LPR NM Andrei Marochko reports that as a result of the actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, two civilians were killed.
“According to updated data, as a result of the aggression of Ukrainian militants in the area of the settlement of Pionerskoye, two civilians were killed and five residential buildings were destroyed. At the moment, the bodies are being removed from the rubble,” he wrote in his Telegram channel.
The Luhansk Information Center reported that people died in their sleep while in their homes, which came under fire.
“Officers of the LPR representative office in the JCCC, after examining the shelling site in Pionerskoye, confirmed the death of civilians. The remains of one of the residents were recovered from the rubble of a house near a burnt bed. Presumably, the owners of the house were sleeping during the shelling,” the report says.
In turn, Advisor to the Head of the LPR Foreign Ministry Rodion Miroshnik noted that this is the first attempt of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to capture a populated area of the republic.
“This episode can be considered the first foray of armed crossings of Ukraine, which set the task of capturing a settlement on the territory of the LPR. Previously, the UFU was limited only to shelling the territory of the republic,” he wrote on the social network.
