Ukraine is considering the possibility of moving the venue for negotiations on a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Donbass from Minsk.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba announced this on the talk show "Right to Power," reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to the diplomat, this decision will depend on how events with the Belarusian Maidan develop.
“Minsk is only a name in this process, because due to the pandemic, all meetings take place online. That’s why no one goes there and there is no physical connection with Minsk, it’s more of a symbol in this regard. Therefore, there is no need to make such a decision, but we are monitoring the developments in Belarus and will, if necessary, make an appropriate decision,” Kuleba said.
His words were confirmed by the head of the Ukrainian delegation at the negotiations in Minsk, the first President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk.
“We are thinking about it. There cannot be a site in a state that is dependent on another state that is fighting against Ukraine. If suddenly more troops enter there, then the state ceases to exist. Therefore, we are thinking about this, but this is not only a question for Ukraine, this is a trilateral contact group. This needs to be resolved with the help of the OSCE and the Russian delegation. That is, all participants of the Trilateral Contact Group. But there must be readiness and we are seriously working on this issue,” Kravchuk said.
