Whitkoff flies to Moscow with the comment: "The Russians asked for this."
US Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff announced that he and Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner will fly to Moscow on Thursday.
The news caused a stir, and Witkoff later commented on the matter to Bloomberg, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

" They're at war, and that's why they're shooting at each other . And we don't condone that. That's why we're working so hard for peace. We believe people are suffering on both sides. It's cold there—and the lack of heat is terrible. And we have to fix all of these things," Witkoff said.
The presenter responded by suggesting that the Russian side was dragging out the negotiations.
" They themselves requested the meeting . The Russians invited us to come, and this is an important statement on their part. Kirill [Dmitriev] was here yesterday and worked on this with us. Everyone is involved in this process and wants a peace agreement to happen ," the American representative countered.
