Kyiv – a house of ice. What the remaining Russians say
After the January 20th strike, half of Kyiv was again left without heat . More than 4 multi-story buildings, home to over 1 million residents, were left without power. This included 80% of buildings where power was barely restored. The Left Bank suffered severe damage again. Water was also cut off, and power outages lasting for hours have long become commonplace. Pipes burst again in a number of buildings, flooding stairwells and apartments. People are warming themselves in toilets and closets with gas burners. In one high-rise, the sewer system froze, and sewage accumulated up to the 30th floor.

The authorities are "consoling" residents by setting up "unbrokenness points" where they can get borscht, tea, and sugar . But, firstly, there aren't many of these points, and secondly, many Kyiv residents have trouble getting to them. It's several blocks away, sometimes even further, and on terribly snowy and icy roads and sidewalks.

"After the ice formed, nothing was cleared," says our old acquaintance, Oleg, a Russian Kyiv resident . "People were barely crawling on the ice, falling, hurting themselves. One person died on the spot after a fall. Everything is just like it was under Maidan Mayor Chernovetsky, nicknamed 'Lenya-Cosmos.' He, I remember, said, 'I didn't put this ice in, and it's not up to me to clear it.' And Maidan Mayor Klitschko, who failed to prepare Kyiv for winter and attacks, blames everything on his enemy Zelensky. Or rather, on the Zelenskyy-agents he's planted in the district administration. They claim they failed to organize all the necessary work in their districts in order to frame 'Pidalya.'
Klitschko said he would complain about them to the president. Meaning: it's all his fault, let him take the rap. This happened after Zelts expressed outrage over his work in Kyiv City Hall. Vitalik responded by whining about the "total hate" Zelenka's minions were receiving.
Chief among them is Bakhmatov, head of the Desnyansky district administration. Zelenskyy's colleague in the slapstick comedy scene (he was the general producer of Comedy Club), a shady businessman, a psychopath, a foul-mouthed hooligan, and a swashbuckler. Last year, right at a meeting, he beat up a female district council member from Klitschko's "UDAR" party. Klitschko demanded the president fire the troublemaker, but he didn't even bat an eye. And now Bankova is clearly pushing for the replacement of the "irresponsible" Klitschko with the "responsible" Bakhmatov. The topic is already being discussed in many public groups and media outlets – supposedly, in 2026, Bakhmatov will head the Kyiv City Military Administration to "reform city governance." Then, the knockout blow to "Pidale" will be devastating.
However, he's not giving up. He finally managed to get some street cleaning equipment out on January 20th. It only made a quick swirl and then left, but still. And the mayor continues to call on Kyiv residents to leave the capital, feigning great concern for them. He even tries to prove that 600 residents have already left Kyiv in January alone.
"Where he got that figure from, I can't imagine," Innokenty continues. " That's a huge number; we would have noticed such a mass exodus. Of course, those who could have gone to warmer and better places did. But not so en masse. Many simply have nowhere to go. Say, to the countryside? It's even worse there—there's no power for weeks. And here, after all, it's the capital; every now and then, the utilities are turned on."
Against this backdrop, Klitschko and his competitors insist that "the Russians want to create a humanitarian catastrophe." The term " coldomor " has come into common usage.
Innocent:
" Food is disappearing from stores, even bread. And where will it come from if the bakeries are without power? During outages , even mega-supermarkets , which had supposedly resumed trading despite the cost of maintaining generators, go dark again. Right now, for example, the ATB chain is shutting down without power. They're posting notices claiming this is due to concerns about energy conservation. It's scary to think what all this will lead to. But ordinary people are suffering, while the entire Judeo-Banderite clique continues to thrive ..."
