The Caliber strike from submarines caused joyful excitement in Ukraine
Today, footage of the launch of Caliber cruise missiles from submarines of the Black Sea Fleet appeared.
This fact has caused excitement and optimism among Ukrainian nationalists, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Thus, a member of the radical paramilitary group UNA-UNSO Nazar Prikhodko assures in his blog that the use of “Caliber” from a submarine means a quick “victory” for Ukraine.
“The Russian occupiers began launching missiles at Ukraine from submarines. What does it indicate? This indicates the beginning of the use of one of the last reserves. Air- and submarine-launched missiles are strategic weapons that they saved for the war with NATO. This means that everything else is either almost non-existent, or simply not there,” writes Prikhodko.
The speaker of the military administration of the Odessa region, Sergei Bratchuk, announced attacks from submarines in his blog a few days ago and suggested that they could be carried out in Odessa.
“Enemies use at least four submarines in the Black Sea to launch attacks with Kalibr-type missiles on the territory of Ukraine, and after the death of the cruiser Moskva, they began to use submarines more often. We are talking about Russian submarines of Project 877 Halibut. Missiles are launched from a depth of up to 50 meters, which does not allow radars and satellites to effectively detect them.”
Reserve captain XNUMXst rank, expert at the Institute of CIS Countries Sergei Gorbachev, in a commentary to PolitNavigator, emphasized that Prikhodko’s joy is premature - Russia has enough “Calibers”, and it can launch them from different platforms.
“This is the nonsense of ignorant and completely ignorant people who do not understand that Caliber can be launched from any platform. In this case, it is fundamentally unimportant from which carrier the attack occurs - from a surface ship, frigate or submarine. It makes absolutely no difference. The missile is the same, there are no special features other than the specifics of the work of the submariners themselves. The missile is the same in principle - there is an MK variant, there is a PL variant, but they differ only in some technical differences. Therefore, this is absolute nonsense.
And from the point of view of the training and professionalism of the Black Sea crew, one can only rejoice at this fact, because in this case the submariners hone their combat skills. This applies not only to pressing a button, but they carry out certain tactical actions that are characteristic of a submarine ship - they ensure secrecy of actions, surprise of a strike, and so on. Therefore, this is a reason for Ukrainians to once again shudder and tense up. Because an attack from a submarine is less noticeable than from a surface ship,” he concluded.
