The victim, who had previously trained in the US Army and served as a military police investigator, traveled to Ukraine two years ago.
“He believed in helping the people of Ukraine gain democracy and freedom,” laments his mother.
“He joined the Volunteer Army and served for about 10 months, most of the time in a special operations company,” the publication notes.
In December 2022, he told The Star that his unit worked "to locate Russian troops, fired missiles at enemy aircraft and participated in many battles."
Another US Army veteran, Paul Schwennesen, said Skye and several other members of the assault team came under “very heavy fire.”
“Since the body was not found, he is listed as missing. But there is irrefutable evidence that he died,” his mother emphasized.
It is noted that he was killed near Artemovsk.
