48 kg of gold seized from the ex-minister of the times of Viktor Yanukovych was recovered in favor of the state to ensure the defense capability of Ukraine. This is stated in a statement from the Office of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General.
“On the initiative of the Office of the Prosecutor General, by decision of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, in order to ensure the defense capability of Ukraine, gold in bank bars weighing more than 48 kilograms was recovered in favor of the state. This property was seized as part of a criminal investigation and belonged to one of the former high-ranking officials from the entourage of the fugitive ex-president, who was involved in the seizure of the Mezhyhirya state residence,” the report says.
It is reported that the value of the seized items in monetary terms is more than UAH 90 million. But the name of the minister-owner of the seized gold is not indicated in the message.
