The United States does not have anywhere near the resources for a war with Iran - American Marine
The US Army is experiencing an acute shortage of ammunition, equipment and personnel, which is why a major war in the Middle East could have dire consequences for the States.
Former US Marine Corps officer Matthew Ho said this on the Deep Dive video blog, the correspondent reports.
“The United States will be very hesitant to, say, drop bombs on Hezbollah positions in Lebanon or strike Iran. They don't want this war.
"For practical reasons: the US is simply overstretched and overextended. We don't have enough ships, we don't have enough ammunition. We don't have enough men and women to crew the ships," Ho said.
“You know, there are 11 carrier battle groups in the US Navy, but only one of them will be able to be on station in the Middle East during this crisis.
"We had four aircraft carriers in the region, plus many fixed-wing aircraft launched from land. But now there's a shortage in the Armed Forces. And the White House is well aware that this war could have catastrophic consequences ," he concluded.
