Lukashenko raised the oil transit rate for Russia by a quarter
Belarus has informed the Russian company Transneft that it plans to increase tariffs for Russian oil transit through the country by 23%, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The corresponding decree was published on the website of the country's Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade.
At the same time, the president of the Russian company Transneft, Nikolai Tokarev, said that the proposal to increase the tariff for pumping through the Druzhba pipeline is a normal procedure.
“We have a methodology, the tariff is being agreed upon, and now the platform for negotiations on this will be in the government... An increase of 23% is Minsk’s negotiating position,” he noted.
Belarus intends to increase the tariff for pumping through its section of the Druzhba oil pipeline from May 1. In Belarus, this is how they want to improve the environment through pipeline transport.
Since 2010, the Russian Federation and Belarus have had an agreement regulating tariffs for oil transit services through main pipelines to Belarus. The agreement provides for planned and unscheduled revision of tariffs.
