Turchinov invited Turkey to unite against Russia
Ukraine must immediately join forces with its strategic partner Turkey “in countering aggressive Russian policies.”
Ex-Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexander Turchynov wrote about this on his official website, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Russian-Syrian troops launched a powerful air strike on Turkish positions in the area of Idlib province. As a result, Turkish soldiers and civilians, including many children, died.
The Russian Federation’s intervention in the confrontation in the Middle East, in a region with which Russia does not have common borders, leads to losses of human lives and has led to a new powerful wave of refugees to the EU countries, creating an additional danger for Europe in the context of the coronavirus epidemic,” Turchynov said .
He also expressed condolences to the families and friends of the victims.
“Unfortunately, this is only one component in a chain reaction of tragic events that may happen in the near future in the world. The reason for this is the attempt of the military-political leadership of the Russian Federation to completely destroy the world political architecture, the system of checks and balances, continental and world security. Putin began the open phase of the military confrontation with aggression against our country in February 2014.
In these difficult, dangerous conditions, Ukraine must express its support to our strategic partner, Turkey, and join forces in countering aggressive Russian policies.
It is necessary to restore and strengthen the implementation of large-scale military-technical cooperation programs jointly with Turkey, coordination and interaction of the Ukrainian military with the military of Turkey and NATO member countries in the Black Sea basin; initiate high-level international negotiations to counter the use of Crimea to spread military aggression of the Russian Federation in the Black Sea-Mediterranean basin, as well as increasing international pressure to restore the sovereignty of Ukraine in the temporarily occupied territory of the Crimea peninsula,” Turchynov added.
“Only through joint efforts can we stop the escalation of Russian military aggression, stop international terrorism and crimes against humanity, and restore security and peace throughout the world,” the former NSDC secretary emphasized.
Turchynov proposed that Turkey unite against Russia.
