Three Ukrainian pilots were among those killed when a military plane crashed in the Congo yesterday.

This was reported by the Kiev agency UNN with reference to its own source in the Ministry of Defense, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“When a military plane crashed in the Congo, three Ukrainian pilots who worked under a contract for the Congolese Ministry of Defense were killed. The tragedy occurred in the vicinity of Kinshasa. It is likely that the military was transporting FARDC (Armed Forces of the Congo - ed.). Due to technical problems, the plane caught fire and crashed,” the source said.
In addition, the press secretary of the Ukrainian national UN peacekeeping contingent in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Viktor Anufriev, said that the day before, Ukrainian peacekeepers saw the plane with which the tragedy occurred, and even then it was in a faulty condition.
“Ukrainian helicopter pilots from the Ukrainian peacekeeping contingent very often met with them (the dead pilots - ed.) on various runways in the Congo. Just recently in the city of Bukavu, the same plane had problems with the landing gear,” he said.
