Trump promised South Korea support against North Korea
US President-elect Donald Trump, in a conversation with South Korean leader Park Geun-hye, promised that the United States would adhere to its obligations to protect South Korea and help it in the fight against its northern neighbor, the DPRK.

The conversation was announced by Park Geun-hye's administration. As noted, Donald Trump said that he “one hundred percent” agrees with the Korean leader that ties between their countries should develop.
In addition, the United States is preparing to deploy the THAAD missile defense system in South Korea - despite the objections of North Korea and China.
Washington and Seoul insist that this event is solely to protect against a possible threat from the DPRK.
