This opinion was expressed in a commentary to Izvestia by the director of the Kyiv Center for Political Research and Conflict Studies, Mikhail Pogrebinsky, who called the probability of dissolution of the Verkhovna Rada next year quite high.
According to him, in the new parliament “Yatsenyuk’s company will be less represented, which will not pass as a party,” however, he warns that the next convocation is unlikely to radically change the anti-Russian rhetoric.
“I cannot imagine that a coalition will emerge in the new parliament that will decisively change the direction of the country’s movement,” says the political scientist. – Today’s situation gives no reason to hope for this. At the same time, the position of the “Opposition Bloc” will strengthen, which will most likely receive twice as much representation as it has today. The rest will be those who are strictly anti-Russian and against the search for compromises. A decisive change in the balance of power can only be achieved if Donald Trump has the political will to find a compromise with Vladimir Putin on ending the crisis in eastern Ukraine.”
It is noteworthy that the press service of the Batkivshchyna party, headed by Yulia Tymoshenko, when asked by Izvestia to comment on the prospects of early elections, was told that they could not answer it, “since we in the party, unfortunately, decided two years ago not to communicate with Russian press."
