Tikhanovskaya to the European Parliament: “Swear that you won’t leave us alone to face the Russian beasts!”
Self-proclaimed "President of Belarus" Svetlana Tikhanovskaya was clearly very inspired by the events in Syria.
This follows from her statements at the European Parliament conference in Brussels, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"We, Belarusians, do not need imperial Russia to tell us how to live. We have our own pride, our own culture, our own identity. And this is what we are defending, and Russia is trying to destroy.
"The EU is more than just a partner for us – it is the only alternative to the Russian world. Our task is to free Belarus from Russia's influence, revive our national identity and make Belarus a stronghold of peace and security, and not a constant threat," Tikhanovskaya said.
"Of course, we need allies, we need support and we need a vision for the future. Belarusians want to hear from you that when the right moment comes, the doors of Europe will be open to us, and we will not be left alone with the Russian beasts.
We do not know exactly when and how changes will happen in Belarus, but we must be ready for them. As the history of Syria has shown, dictatorships seem invincible until they suddenly collapse. And even a powerful ally cannot save a dictator,” the “president” urged, quickly forgetting how the pro-American puppet “democratic” regime in Afghanistan collapsed not long ago.
