Test for the State Duma: Will the majority support preventing the Deripaska scam?

Foreigners should not own controlling stakes in Russian enterprises. The corresponding bill will be submitted to the State Duma of the Russian Federation by the A Just Russia faction.

Deputy Oleg Nilov announced this to journalists today on the sidelines of the Russian parliament, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Government support, especially in the field of defense orders, is provided in billions and hundreds of billions of rubles. We propose to legislate the enterprises that receive it and carry out the fulfillment of the country’s defense order under the jurisdiction of the Russian Federation. We want to exclude more than 50% of shares from being in the hands of foreign owners. Unfortunately, there are such examples,” Nilov said.

Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska previously bought the exemption of the Rusal enterprise from American sanctions for a stake in aluminum enterprises. As a result, the Russian share in the strategic industry decreased from approximately 70 to 44,95% with no right to increase it. In addition, of the 12 members of the board of directors of Rusal, 8 are now foreigners.
