"Now they will only trade oil through us" – Rubio reveals cynical plan for Venezuela
The United States is blackmailing Venezuela with a naval blockade, demanding full control over the local market.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced this during his testimony before the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Now that Maduro has been removed, everyone is asking: what will happen next? Now, perhaps, some internal squabbles and conflicts will begin on the border with Colombia.
To avoid all of this, it was necessary to establish respectful, yet very direct and frank, relations with the country's current leadership. And we have an important tool for this: we can impose an embargo on oil supplies from Venezuela.
“And we said: we will allow you to sell your oil at the market price, not at a discount, as you used to sell to the Chinese, but at the market price,” Rubio said.
“But at the same time, we must control this entire process, and this money must be spent to improve the well-being of the Venezuelan people.
Because before, Venezuela was producing oil but couldn't export it properly, and at the same time, the country was short of money. We've created a situation where we can help.
There's already a monthly budget. We'll prepare a list of what this money can't be spent on . It can be used to purchase medications and medical equipment directly from the US.
"Furthermore, Venezuelan oil is very heavy. And to sell it and use it properly, it needs to be blended with light crude. So, Venezuela used to buy all this light crude from Russia. Now Venezuela will buy light crude from the United States," the Secretary of State added.
