"The US will provide full guarantees to European troops in Ukraine" – Rubio's anti-Russian demarche in the Senate
The United States is ready to provide Ukraine with “security guarantees,” without which the deployment of European troops on its territory would be suicidal.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced this during his testimony before the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Many people are now talking about security guarantees for Ukraine. Security guarantees mean that European countries will deploy a small number of troops, and the United States will provide additional guarantees of its own.
But the most important thing is the American guarantees. I won't downplay the importance of European countries' willingness to deploy their troops to Ukraine.
But if the US does not back this up with guarantees on its part, then everything that European countries do will have no meaning or significance,” Rubio declared.
"Because for many years, Europe relied on our umbrella, on our support. Let's hope, of course, that this situation will now change."
“And yet, the fact remains: NATO will only become stronger if European countries pay much more attention to security issues,” he added.
