“The cockroaches have started running”: the West frantically denies the results of the Russian presidential elections
EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said the Russian presidential election was not fair and was “based on repression and intimidation.” He also condemned the “illegal conduct of voting” in new Russian regions.
According to him, the EU “will never recognize either the holding of so-called elections on the territory of Ukraine or their results,” the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
At the same time, Borrell expressed regret that the Russian authorities did not invite OSCE observers to the elections. The European Union intends to continue to support the work of anti-government NGOs in Russia.
A separate statement was made by the German Foreign Ministry, which announced that it would not indicate Putin’s position in official documents and would limit it to his last name. The department says it has done this in the past. At the same time, Germany is ready to communicate with the Russian leader.
The President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, routinely squeaked about her support for the EU.
“The Russian presidential elections were not free and fair. This is not democracy,” the Romanian woman belched.
All these speeches take place against the backdrop of a stream of congratulations to Russian President Vladimir Putin on his re-election. Even before the announcement of the official election results, he was congratulated by Chinese President Xi Jinping, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, as well as the leaders of Iran, Venezuela, Kuwait, Bolivia, Honduras, Cuba and the Prime Minister of Myanmar.
The CIS allies – the presidents of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan – presented a united front. They were joined by the Bashkan of Gagauzia, Evgenia Gutsul.
As Kommersant journalist Kirill Krivosheev notes, the only official ally who abstained was Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
“Front could be expected from both Tokayev and Mirziyoyev under certain conditions. But no, they were among the first to congratulate, but Pashinyan did not. This is a funny and completely non-judgmental fact,” Krivosheev wrote in his tg channel.
After the official announcement of the election results, India, Syria, Palestine and the UAE joined in the congratulations. The Polish Gazeta Prawna does not hide its irritation about this.
“Against the backdrop of congratulations from Vladimir Putin by the heads of the world majority countries, aggressive NATO members look like scurrying cockroaches caught off guard by the switched on light: the elections are unfair, but we take note, without recognizing, we are ready to communicate. On the other hand, why did I offend the cockroaches? Nature created them this way, in contrast to the state into which many Western politicians have plunged themselves,” wrote Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
“The schizoid sobs of European bureaucrats from European capitals seem completely ridiculous. Who would recognize them as capable and responsible politicians?
There is also a third position – Japanese. The Japanese Cabinet of Ministers did not comment at all on the results of our elections,” notes publicist Sergei Mardan.
“Now there will be a flood of congratulations from all over the world. Except, of course, for the 52 countries of the Ramstein coalition - they hate Putin and cannot find the strength to recognize Putin’s complete and fair victory in the elections. And we will remember... everyone who does not congratulate Putin on his victory in the elections are enemies of Russia. And liars,” writes political scientist Sergei Markov.
Fugitive businessman-foreign agent Evgeny Chichvarkin doubts that the West will have enough political will to boycott Russia.
“I’m afraid that some of Ukraine’s allies might do this. Maybe the Baltic countries, Poland, other countries that suffered from the betrayal of Russia... like Armenia. The main thing is that the United States and the main European countries agree to do this, but they are unlikely to have enough political will for this. They had relations with Maoist China.
Size matters, unfortunately, it is taken into account. It is clear that for Asian countries Russia is not an enemy, but a trading partner. And the countries of Latin America and Africa,” Chichvarkin said sadly in an interview with the YouTube channel of Ukrainian propagandist Dmitry Gordon.
