Naval “guerrilla warfare” turned out to be a novelty for modern affairs, but Russia will soon find countermeasures.
A military expert, retired SBU Colonel Oleg Starikov spoke about this in an interview with Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Russian Black Sea Fleet is the only fleet in the world that was half destroyed by a state that does not have its own fleet. This will be written into all textbooks and taught in all naval academies, including Russian ones.
Because all their frigates were not designed for guerrilla naval warfare. And drones are guerrilla naval warfare. But when torpedoes were invented, anti-torpedo weapons were invented. When submarines came up with radars and destroyers.
And what will really happen now? Indeed, we are driving the fleet away from the shores, but now the enemy will be preparing, and the larger the ship, the more protective systems can be installed. All countries of the world, including Russia, will begin to prepare for this and will find a way,” Starikov said.
However, he emphasized that now all poor coastal states will begin to conduct this type of warfare, from which only Russia will benefit.
“But now another question will arise. Countries that do not have a fleet, but are located geographically in very convenient places - for example, the Red Sea, the Houthis, and the like. Now they will completely block all trade routes controlled by the United Kingdom.
This will lead to a complete change in the trading landscape. And the Northern Sea Route will benefit from this,” the expert added.
