Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Valeriy Chaly announced this on his Facebook page.
“On October 7, the US Senate approved the draft US budget for 2016 for national defense needs,” Chaly wrote.
According to him, the document allows the US Secretary of Defense, in coordination with the Secretary of State, to provide military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of $300 million during the 2016 fiscal year
“$50 million of this amount can be used to provide Ukraine with defensive weapons,” the ambassador added.
“The bill will come into force after it is signed by the President of the United States. We hope (and will continue to work on this) for a positive decision,” noted Valery Chaly.
According to the document, the total volume of US military spending for the coming year will be $612 billion.
