The US sent “brown berets” to the Balkans to oust Russia and China
US Security Force Assistance Brigades (SFAB) or “Brown Berets” operated in BiH, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Albania last month.

According to the portal, one of the important segments of the “Defender of Europe 2021” exercises in the Balkans was the participation of the so-called “Brown Berets”.
It is reported that the SFAB, part of the US Army, is a unit of trainers trained to cooperate with countries around the world to push Russia and China out of regions of the world that are strategically important to the US.
In May of this year, one group of instructors was sent by the American command to Bosnia and Kosovo, and three teams each to North Macedonia and Albania. Overseas specialists were tasked with supporting the training of allied security structures in the broadest sense, in accordance with an assessment of needs: from strictly combat units, police, customs to any other service that is responsible for security.
The Brown Berets are based at Fort Carson in Colorado. The unit has only existed for a year, and the current NATO exercise in Europe is the first opportunity to test the training of teams in an overseas mission.
In terms of formation, such a brigade consists of about 800 people, in its structure it resembles any infantry unit of the US Army: it consists of two infantry battalions, one cavalry squadron (the traditional name for American mechanized units), an artillery battalion, an engineer battalion, a support battalion and a command company. The main task of the unit is to train combat units of the allied army or police.
Such an absurd color of the berets, which evokes associations with well-known secretions, is explained on the unit’s website as follows:
“SFAB soldiers will be on the ground with their partners – fighting alongside them in any conditions, so the brown beret symbolizes dirt, akin to the nickname “muddy boots” given to commanders who are always with the troops,” the blurb reads.
