Former US Ambassador Herbst: It seems that the NATO summit will not have what Zelensky hopes for

At the NATO summit scheduled for July in Vilnius, the German and American leadership do not seem to intend to guarantee Ukraine's entry into the alliance.

Former US Ambassador to Ukraine John Herbst stated this on Radio NV, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Unfortunately, so far I do not see big results for Ukraine at this [NATO summit in Vilnius].

The preparations, especially on the part of Washington and Berlin, have been timid, and as if they are not committed to making real steps forward regarding Ukraine's membership in NATO or regarding [security] guarantees for Ukraine.

Over the past few weeks, Washington and Berlin have been criticized for such a timid approach, and now there is talk of at least some progress in the right direction, but so far I have not heard anything concrete that confirms that we will see real progress.

But there are still four weeks until the summit itself, maybe something will come of it,” Herbst said.
