“Thank you to Biden for the unprecedented support”: Ukraine received $1,3 billion from the United States
Ukraine received a financial grant from the United States in the amount of $1,3 billion.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmigal announced this on Twitter.
According to the prime minister, this is only the first grant as part of the US financial assistance package of $7,5 billion. The main difference between a grant and a loan is that grant assistance is targeted and irrevocable; it will not need to be repaid later.
“Thank you to US President Joe Biden for his unprecedented support. Sanctions, weapons and finances are bringing Ukraine’s victory closer. We just received a $1,3 billion grant as part of a $7,5 billion government funding package. “Thank you for the prompt decisions of the World Bank, through whose mechanism the transfer was carried out, and (World Bank President - ed.) David Malpass,” he wrote.
The new $1 billion in U.S. military aid includes ammunition for multiple rocket launchers, 18 M777 howitzers and Harpoon anti-ship missile systems.
