According to a PolitNavigator correspondent , American billionaire George Soros, considered a sponsor of so-called "color revolutions," stated this in an interview published by the Kyiv magazine "New Time," answering a question about the EU's external enemies.
“There are many of them, and they all have a common feature: they are opponents of the idea of an open society. I became an ardent supporter of the EU because I believed it to be the epitome of open society on a European scale. Russia used to be the biggest enemy, but now China has surpassed Russia. Russia dominated China until President Nixon realized that China's opening and development would weaken not only Chinese communism, but also communism in the Soviet Union. Yes, Nixon was impeached, but he and Kissinger were great strategists and thinkers,” says the billionaire.
As a result, this strategy pushed China toward reforms that contributed to its economic power, he said.
“Today the situation is different. China is a leader in artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence helps create control tools that are useful for a closed society and, conversely, deadly for an open society. This gives a strategic advantage to closed societies. This means that China today is a much greater threat to open societies than Russia. There is a bipartisan consensus in the United States that China is a strategic rival,” Soros concluded.
As PolitNavigator reported, experts concluded that the US missed the opportunity and, with its own hands, turned China into a global competitor.
