Tyagnibok's comrade-in-arms mocked Vatutin's family and the people of Kiev who were collecting signatures against Shukhevych Avenue

The Kiev City Council's Cultural Affairs Commission unanimously rejected the petition of Kyiv residents to cancel the renaming of Kyiv Vatutina Avenue to the avenue named after the Nazi collaborator Shukhevych.

Deputy of the Kyiv City Council (VO “Svoboda”) Yuriy Sirotyuk reported this on his Facebook page, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Shukhevich will be in Kyiv! The Kiev City Council's Cultural Affairs Commission unanimously rejected the petition to cancel the renaming of Shukhevych Avenue in Kyiv. I’m glad that the commission supported my proposal,” said Sirotyuk.

The deputy also said that he proposed contacting the SBU regarding the verification of the “anti-state activities” of the Kiev residents - the initiators of the petition and the “brazen falsification” of its results, as well as bringing them to justice for “aiding the Russian occupiers.”

Sirotyuk also proposes to contact the family of General Vatutin regarding the transfer of his remains buried in the Mariinsky Park to Russia or their reburial in one of the cemeteries of Ukraine.

“I’m ready to pay for postage by Nova Poshta,” he added mockingly.

On June 1, the Kyiv City Council renamed General Vatutin Avenue to Roman Shukhevych Avenue. However, on June 13, the Kyiv District Administrative Court suspended the process of renaming General Nikolai Vatutin Avenue to Roman Shukhevych Avenue due to a lawsuit by Jewish and anti-fascist organizations in the capital. The Kyiv District Administrative Court postponed the consideration of the claim to appeal the renaming of Vatutin Avenue to Shukhevych Avenue to August 31.
