Lozhkin's replacement will worsen Ukraine's relations with Russia

The replacement of the head of the presidential administration of Ukraine Boris Lozhkin with the head of the Kharkov Regional State Administration Igor Rainin will most likely worsen the already difficult relations between Ukraine and Russia, political scientist Viktor Pirozhenko writes in Izvestia

“As head of the Kharkov regional administration, Rainin proved himself to be the initiator of total repression, suppressing all protests against the policies of the Kyiv authorities,” the author recalls. “He actively persecuted supporters of civil reconciliation and normalization of relations with Russia. Most likely, he was also involved in the shameful arrest of former people’s deputy Alla Alexandrovskaya.”

At the same time, the political scientist points out that Lozhkin maintained diverse contacts with Russian business partners, but Rainin has neither such connections nor such a desire.

“In the activities of the Poroshenko administration, one should most likely expect a continuity of the course towards worsening relations with Russia in foreign policy. The persecution of dissidents will intensify within the country,” Pirozhenko predicts.
