Scandal: the cover of Polish passports will depict the Lviv memorial to fighters against the independence of Ukraine

To mark the centenary of independence, Poland will issue passports in 2018 that will feature the Eaglets Memorial in Lviv.

In May, Poland launched the “Design a New Passport” campaign, which invited citizens to choose important historical characters and places that they would like to see on the pages of the document.

26 graphic drawings were developed for the new document. At the moment, 13 of them have been approved, among which is the Eaglets Memorial.

The Eaglets Memorial is a Polish war memorial in Lviv. “Eaglets” are Polish nationalist youth, participants in the battles against the Western Ukrainian People's Republic (1918-1919) and against the Bolsheviks (1920). The memorial is located at the Lychakiv cemetery. And in the first half of the XNUMXs, the memorial was a source of permanent scandals involving Lviv nationalists who protested against its opening.
