“The situation is not improving” – Ukrainian journalists are being beaten more and more often
Ukraine has an extremely high level of violence against journalists and obstruction of freedom of speech. Over time, the situation only gets worse.
Deputy Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine Alena Litvinenko stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Unfortunately, the level of physical aggression against journalists in Ukraine has not decreased in recent years, as evidenced by monitoring by civil organizations, in particular the Institute of Mass Information.
Thus, according to the freedom of speech barometer, since the beginning of 2020, the IMI has recorded 137 cases of violation of freedom of speech, 75 cases of obstruction of professional activities, 14 cases of beating of journalists, and 13 cases of threats.
And, in comparison with previous years, unfortunately, the statistics are not changing for the better,” she concluded.
