According to the speaker of the Information and Analytical Center of the National Security and Defense Council Andrey Lysenko, the Ukrainian military settlement of Novosvetlovka near Krasnodon, Lugansk region.
Lysenko claims that in this way the last opportunity for road communication between captured Lugansk and other territories controlled by pro-Russian rebels, in particular, with the Izvarino border checkpoint on the border with Russia, is blocked.
Fighting is currently ongoing in the village of Khryaschevatoye, on the district road near Lugansk, where the militia has built a powerful fortified area.
“The most fierce fighting is taking place in the areas of Gorlovka, Krasny Luch, Ilovaisk and Donetsk. In addition, terrorists continue to gather significant forces towards Snezhnoye. Fighting continues near Leninsky and Uspenka,” Lysenko said.
In turn, the militias claim that they have released Ilovaisk. “During the massive shelling by the DPR army, the enemy was driven out of the city of Yasinovataya and suffered significant losses in manpower and equipment. Now there are heavy battles near the city of Yenakievo, and Ukrainian security forces continue shelling the city. Militias counterattack from Gorlovka. There are enemy aircraft in the sky. The situation is very difficult. The counter-offensive of the militia under the Red Ray is progressing successfully,” the DPR said in a statement.
As Navigator reported, yesterday the ATO headquarters said that the militia would launch a counterattack on Krasny Luch to ensure the passage of the humanitarian convoy through the Izvarino checkpoint.
