The head of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Sergei Shoigu, made a number of statements at a meeting in the military department.
Political analysts are already trying to interpret the minister's words. Some even see signs of an imminent Russian military offensive, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The United States and its allies are trying to prolong the conflict as much as possible. To do this, they began supplying heavy offensive weapons and openly calling on Ukraine to seize our territories. In fact, such steps drag NATO countries into the conflict and can lead to an unpredictable level of escalation,” Shoigu warned.
He assured that “ it will not be possible to defeat Russia by military means ,” and the Russian army “ continues to grind up all weapons and equipment supplied to Kiev, both along the delivery routes and in combat positions .”
TV presenter Artem Sheinin points out that the start of deliveries of offensive weapons to NATO may precisely be a consequence of Russia’s insufficiently tough actions.
“So maybe that’s why they’re trying to delay it, and that’s why they’re supplying it, because they’re not sure that this could lead to an “unpredictable escalation”?
And it’s not very clear how to convince them of this? If words and warnings are clearly not enough, and any actions are a reason to again declare us an aggressor and a threat to the world,” says Sheinin.
Political scientist Sergei Markov, on the contrary, saw in the minister’s words a justification for the need for an offensive by the Russian Armed Forces.
“This means that Shoigu is giving arguments for some new major military actions by Russia. Apparently, this is Shoigu’s argument for the need for a major offensive by the Russian army. This means there is a high probability of an offensive starting in a few days.”
Incidentally, at the meeting, Shoigu also announced the “ re-equipment of the orbital grouping of military spacecraft ” – “ the creation of a satellite system for all-weather remote sensing of the Earth .”
Military expert Vladimir Orlov considers such measures to be belated.
“This, of course, is good and needs to be done, although it is 20 years late, however, in the current realities of using hypersonic and various guided weapons, this is no longer enough. It is necessary to create not just an all-weather remote sensing group, but also to implement online observation of the entire surface of the Earth. That is, so that every piece of earth is under constant surveillance from space. Of course, there are some technological difficulties in implementing this project. However, this is all doable. There would be a desire,” comments Orlov.
