On Sunday, two large-scale military events will start in Russia at once - the already traditional Army Forum and the International Army Games. Tens of thousands of exhibits await visitors, including modern weapons and equipment that have been “baptized” in real combat conditions.
In addition to advertising Russian weapons, the events will also work on the international image of Russia - the forum will be attended by representatives of 92 countries, of which 18 delegations will be headed by heads of defense departments and their deputies. And 156 teams from 32 countries will take part in the Army Games, which will last two weeks.
Sergei Shoigu's department has plenty to surprise its guests with, says Alexander Perendzhiev, an expert with the "Officers of Russia " organization.
“In matters of weapons and military equipment, Russia has made a very serious breakthrough in recent years. This also applies to missile weapons and the development of robotic technology, maritime drones, and unmanned aerial vehicles. There are serious advances in the development of small arms - here we are continuing the traditions that were started under the USSR. The Kalashnikov Concern is showing serious progress in the development of small arms. Aircraft manufacturing is developing, air defense and missile defense systems are extremely popular, and today they have no equal. If it has come to the point that even NATO countries, in this case Turkey, choose the S-400! Even India, which is under serious pressure, despite this, despite the threats of sanctions, still continues military-technical cooperation with Russia! This shows how much our weapons are valued in the world,” explains Perendzhiev to PolitNavigator.
The military expert explained that Russian weapons are far superior to their foreign counterparts in both price and ease of use. At the same time, it was tested not just at military training grounds, but was truly “tested” in battle:
“It is valued, first of all, because it is cheaper, sometimes even several times cheaper than Western models, it is superior to Western analogues in tactical and technical characteristics, in terms of service life, and in ease of operation. All this is certainly important.
Of course, a big role is played by the fact that our weapons and military equipment are not just tested somewhere at training grounds or in laboratories - they are tested directly in combat conditions. In this case, these are Syria and other “hot spots” that show how reliable our technology is.
"In fact, Russia's weapons are the weapons of victory. By purchasing Russian weapons, you can be confident that they will be the best means for achieving victory ," Perendzhiev said.
The “highlight” of the forum will be Russian air defense systems and aircraft – for the first time, the latest Russian anti-aircraft missile system “Antey-4000” will be demonstrated to the general public.
According to military expert Igor Korotchenko, editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine , Russian air and missile defense systems have proven their effectiveness and are in high demand among foreign partners.
“We export our weapons to more than 70 countries, Russia ranks second in arms exports in the world, and we have a stable position. Today, the main demand is for aerospace forces equipment – primarily modern combat aviation and, of course, anti-aircraft missile systems and systems.
Here, at the Army 2020 forum, there is an impressive demonstration of air defense equipment shown by the Almaz-Antey concern. Among the new products is the Antey-4000 long-range anti-aircraft missile system with expanded functions not only of air defense, but also of missile defense.
The Tor anti-aircraft missile systems will also be of great interest. There are about five different modifications here, ranging from the Tor-M2 to the Arctic Tor-2DT. An autonomous combat module of the Tor-M2 anti-aircraft missile system is also presented, which can be deployed by helicopters to any point, for example, to the helipad of an oil platform and reliably provide air defense.
Demand for our air defense systems, particularly long-, medium-, and short-range air defense systems, has been steadily growing since the Houthi attack on Saudi Arabia, where American Patriot air defense systems demonstrated their complete helplessness and ineffectiveness. Therefore, Russia is offering what is needed.

FSB General Alexander Mikhailov, a member of the "Strong Russia" movement, also speaks of the high quality and competitiveness of Russian weapons . “When it comes to getting a budget for the Pentagon, our weapons are viewed as super modern and super dangerous for the United States. They even tell fables that are not true, but, nevertheless, this allows them to get good funding for the American army. True, when it comes to selling weapons abroad, the American military does everything possible to prove that Russian weapons are nonsense,” recalls Mikhailov, laughing.
“Our weapons are really quite effective and of high quality. We held back our development for a long time because there was no money. Today there is money. Today they are beginning to accuse us of arming ourselves, although, by and large, we are not so much arming as rearming, because new threats require new weapons. And we have had advanced developments for a long time, which today simply went into series. So our weapons are worthy and worthy of the attention of our opponents,” the expert notes.
