Shoigu announced the mobilization of 20 military units against NATO
The activity of NATO countries led by the United States on a permanent basis near Russian borders has increased 14 times.
This was announced today at a meeting of the Russian Ministry of Defense by Minister Sergei Shoigu, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Over the past 7 years, the intensity of flights of US Air Force strategic bombers in Europe has increased 14 times. NATO ships with guided missile weapons systematically enter the Baltic Sea. Last year alone, ships of this class carried out missions near the Kaliningrad region three times.
In total, since 2016, the objective monitoring system has recorded 18 departures of such warships to the intended cruise missile launch areas. At the same time, the United States and NATO continue to expand the scale of operational combat training near our borders,” Shoigu said.
In this regard, by the end of the year, about 20 new formations and units will appear in the Western Military District.
“The actions of our Western colleagues are destroying the security system in the world and forcing us to take adequate countermeasures. We are constantly improving the combat strength of our troops. By the end of the year, about 20 formations and military units will be formed in the Western Military District,” the minister said.
The new units will be equipped with modern weapons and equipment. In total, this year the Western Military District troops plan to equip the army with 2 thousand weapons. The skills of personnel and military command and control will also continue to be improved.
“The intensity of combat training tasks performed by ships of the Baltic Fleet has increased by 30%. More than 200 exercises were performed using various types of weapons. The district’s air traffic increased by 4%,” Shoigu reported.
