Shoigu exudes enviable optimism regarding the situation in Ukraine. What's behind it?
The special operation debunked the myth about the superiority of Western military standards over Russian ones. Moreover, in many cases even Soviet systems perform better than Western models.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced this at the XI Moscow Conference on International Security, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Shoigu, the fighting has now shown that Ukraine has almost exhausted its military resource.
“It became obvious that the use of Western weapons, supposedly advanced NATO methods of planning operations, methods of command and control of troops and their training cannot ensure superiority on the battlefield.
Despite comprehensive Western assistance, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are failing to achieve results. The much-hyped strategic counteroffensive is a case in point. The skillful actions of Russian Armed Forces personnel, their coherence, and high level of training allow them to flexibly respond to Kyiv's implementation of the plans of their Western overseers. Preliminary results of the military operations indicate that Ukraine's military resources are almost exhausted ," Shoigu stated.
The Minister of Defense also emphasized that Russia is ready to transfer information to partners about NATO equipment captured as a result of the fighting:
“As for Western-made weapons supplied to Ukraine. I want to emphasize once again that there is nothing unique or invulnerable to Russian weapons on the battlefield today. In many cases, even Soviet-made equipment surpasses Western models in its combat qualities.
We have objective data on the destruction of German tanks, American armored vehicles, British missiles, and other weapons systems. We are ready to share our assessments of the weaknesses of Western equipment with our partners ."
The minister's optimistic attitude struck observer Alexander Zimovsky.
"Judging by the optimism, the Russian Central Military District in the Ukrainian SSR is rapidly approaching a successful conclusion. Many are already beginning to fear they won't make it to the front to fight ," Zimovsky comments humorously.
But military correspondent Alexander Kots explains to whom Shoigu’s words are primarily addressed.
"The Russian army has been preparing for a military confrontation with NATO for decades and is now actively applying theoretical knowledge in practice. It's no exaggeration to say that the SVO has given us unique experience, unmatched by any other country in the world. Surely, the Chinese, North Korean, and Iranian militaries would be very interested to hear how to effectively defeat Western-style equipment . And it wouldn't be a bad idea to hold a couple of master classes within the CSTO framework."
Knowledge is an export commodity, worth far more than tanks or planes . During the Soviet era, our military specialists worked all over the world, consulting and training the armies of many countries. This helped draw them into our orbit of influence and tie them to our domestic defense industry . We must learn from this experience and draw closer to potential allies, who, moreover, are not thrilled with the realities of a unipolar world.
