“Many countries, including EU countries, are faced with a new problem of delayed vaccine deliveries. I am sure that the shifted dates will not significantly affect the vaccination campaign, and it will begin in the near future. Everything necessary has been done for this. In particular, a batch of vaccines has been contracted, which will be in sufficient quantity and everyone will be able to get vaccinated,” Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmyhal said in his report.

“We are still counting on the first shipments in February, and Ukraine will receive it in two ways: through the global COVAX initiative, under which Ukraine can receive vaccines from 8 to 16 million doses without payment or at a reduced price - in fact, for 8 million people. Already at the end of February-beginning of March, the first batches of Pfizer BionTech in the amount of 117 thousand doses will be delivered to Ukraine. This is the latest information released by UNICEF. We discussed these things with the EU and the European Commission,” Shmygal said.

However, not everyone in the room found this report convincing.

“Prime Minister, I have no questions for you, after Zimbabwe has already started vaccination, and you are standing on this podium and once again telling us that we will receive some kind of vaccine,” said the Eurosolidarity deputy. Irina Friz during the government question hour.

In turn, Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Elena Kondratyuk said that there is no trust in the authorities and called on the prime minister to apologize for the failed vaccination in Ukraine.

“Today I will no longer ask the question when exactly vaccination will begin, because, it seems to me, there is no point in this. No matter what date you name now, trust in the authorities in this matter has already been undermined. Since more than 70 countries around the world are already successfully vaccinating against coronavirus and reporting on their success in this matter.

I have one simple but at the same time complex question in this regard. Please tell me, Prime Minister of Ukraine, are you ready from the highest rostrum, the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, to now apologize for the failure of the coronavirus vaccination process in Ukraine?” – asked Kondratyuk.

“Vaccination in Ukraine will begin in the coming days in accordance with the national vaccination plan, and everyone who wants to will be vaccinated. The key question is that these vaccines will be safe, will be delivered, and today the entire infrastructure is ready. I think vaccination will begin in the near future. I’m sure of this,” Shmygal responded fearfully to the indignant cries of the deputies.
