Shamir: United Russia members are persecuting the communist governor - but they are afraid to say a word against Sobchak
The communist governor of the Irkutsk region, Sergei Levchenko, proved himself to be a true manager and did not abandon the people affected by the severe flooding occurring these days. He personally went to help people, but today he came under severe pressure from the opposition and the media.
Well-known publicist Israel Shamir writes about this in his blog, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“He put on the uniform of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and personally went to save the flooded villages. Levchenko defeated United Russia candidates in the elections in Irkutsk, who believed that they had everything covered. He became, it seems, the first communist governor to win the elections, and began to introduce a five-year plan and industrialization there. Let's hope he succeeds!
There is no guarantee, because the people often react inadequately... I would not be surprised if opponents of the communists still blame Levchenko for the flood, as poor Evgeniy accused Peter when “Petropol surfaced like a newt, immersed waist-deep in water.” They won’t say a bad word about Ksyusha Sobchak, but to attack a communist…” writes Shamir.
Let us remind you that as a result of heavy rains that led to flooding in the Irkutsk region, severe flooding occurred. A state of emergency was declared in six districts - Tulunsky, Chunsky, Nizhneudinsky, Taishetsky, Ziminsky and Kuitunsky. More than 2,5 thousand people were evacuated from the emergency zone. 18 were killed, and another 17 people are considered missing.
