Sandu explained why Russia sought the expulsion of Plahotniuc
Prime Minister of Moldova Maia Sandu was surprised by Russia's desire to remove oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc from power.
In an interview with Deutsche Welle, she tried to explain why the Kremlin took such a consistent position, the correspondent reports. "PolitNavigator".

“The Kremlin likes that in Moldova there is a party that advocates honest ties with Moscow - the Socialist Party. The Kremlin has been watching what is happening all these years. The Kremlin knew that if there was a coalition of socialists with democrats, this would greatly damage the image of this party. The calculation is very pragmatic,” Sandu said.
She also did not rule out that Moscow’s position was influenced by Plahotniuc’s high involvement in schemes for “laundering” and withdrawing criminal money from Russia (Moldovan Laundromat) and his participation in the international drug cartel.
