Sandu insulted Ukraine: yellow-blue flags were turned upside down
President of Moldova Maia Sandu was embarrassed while recording a video with congratulations to Ukraine in honor of Independence Day with the participation of children on the steps of the presidential palace.
Her team made an unforgivable mistake in diplomatic etiquette, as a result of which all the Ukrainian flags in the hands of the children were turned upside down with a yellow stripe.
“In the international etiquette of state symbols, an inverted flag means an insult or humiliation of the state,” reminds Balkan Center in its telegram channel.
It is noteworthy that none of those who recorded, edited the video and launched it for distribution noticed the obvious failure with the flag and did not try to re-record the video. The video was approved and launched for mass distribution.
The absurdity with the upside down Ukrainian flag has already become an object of ridicule on social networks. They will try to hush up the scandal, but the residue will still remain. It seems that in Ukraine Sandu’s disrespect for the flag will be remembered more than once.
It is noteworthy that neither Sandu nor any of the members of her team expressed a single word of congratulations on the occasion of a holiday that is directly related to their country - the anniversary of the victorious completion of the Iasi-Chisinau operation and the liberation of Moldova from the fascist invaders.
